Scholarship Opening Date:
Applications for the 2013-14 academic years will be available starting January 2013.
Deadline:
Submission
deadline is March 31 (Annually), although in certain
countries internal deadlines may be earlier.
The Aga Khan Foundation offers a few scholarships each
academic year for outstanding postgraduate students from developing countries
that by no other means cannot pay their studies.
The Scholarships are granted on a 50% grant: 50% loan basis
via a competitive scholarship application process annually in June or July.
The Aga Khan Foundation prioritizes requests for Master's
level courses over other courses, though the foundation is also willing to
consider applications for PhD programmes, but this is when doctoral degrees are
necessary for the career objectives of the particular student. Requests shall
also be considered for travel and study awards for PhD students conducting
research in Third World countries on topics of interest to Foundation.
Target Countries
Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Syria,
Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda,
Mozambique, Madagascar, France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada.
Criteria for Selection
l) Excellent academic records by the student
2) Demonstration of Genuine financial need.
3)Must be Admitted to a reputable institution of higher
learning and
4) Thoughtful and
coherent educational and career plans.
5) Candidates will
also be evaluated on extra-curricular interests and
attainments, the prospects to achieve
their goals and the possibility to
succeed in a foreign academic environment
Note
Applicants are expected to have some years of work
experience in their field of interest.

Procedures
Students may obtain application forms as of January 1st each
year from AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services / Boards in their
countries of current residence
Applications forms (completed) are to be returned to the
agency from which they were obtained, or to the address specified on the front
of the form. Do not send them to Geneva.
