The Research Grants Council (RGC) of the
Hong Kong University Grants Committee are committed to promoting
world-class research in Hong Kong. Through our PhD Fellowships, Hong
Kong's outstanding universities offer research opportunities in a broad
range of PhD programmes, with generous stipends and excellent support
for the best and brightest students in the world.
Established by the RGC in 2009, the
prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme has brought over two hundred
top students from thirty-one countries/regions to Hong Kong to
undertake PhD studies in our world –class research institutions in
fields ranging from humanities, business and social sciences, to
engineering, medical and physical sciences. Following the success in the
first two rounds, we are looking for talented people who wish to pursue
their PhD studies in Hong Kong, and aspire to be research elites of the
time to take part in the third round, study awards of which will
commence in the 2012/13 academic year.

and specialisations such as textile design, supply chain and
manufacturing.

The Fellowship provides a monthly
stipend of HK$20,000 (approximately AU$2,500) and a conference and
research related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approximately AU$1,300)
per year to each awardee for a period of three years

Candidates who are seeking admission as
new full time PhD in the institutions listed, irrespective of their
country of origin, prior work experience, and ethnic background, should
be eligible to apply.
Applicants should demonstrate
outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability /
potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership
abilities.
