University of Arkansas International Scholarships

Description

Scholarships are highly competitive and consideration is available only for students planning to enter in Fall terms. Scholarship consideration is not available for those students planning to enter in a Spring term.
Scholarship applications are not held until February 1 to be reviewed all at the same time; rather, scholarships are awarded at periodic intervals to qualifying candidates upon review and approval by the Scholarship Committee.  Therefore, not all qualifying students who apply by February 1 may be awarded a scholarship if funding runs out.  If you are an outstanding student with high test scores and excellent grades, we encourage you to apply early for admission and scholarships.
International Scholarships
International students are eligible to apply for the following scholarships:

Chancellor's Scholarship

  • Annual award up to $8000 per year
  • Renewable for 4 years (5 years for Architecture and MAT students)

Silas Hunt Scholarship

  • Annual award up to $5000 or $8000 per year
  • Renewable for 4 years (5 years for Architecture and MAT students)
John and Marie Lavallard International Scholarship
The John and Marie Lavallard International Scholarship Fund shall be awarded annually to an outstanding international student with financial need at the University of Arkansas campus.  The scholarship will be utilized for tuition plus room and  board, and is a one-year, non-renewable scholarship.
Tuition Advantage
The University of Arkansas is pleased to offer a tuition advantage for qualifying students from selected countries, U.S. regions, or institutions based upon UofA partnership agreements. The Tuition Advantage is a waiver of the out-of-state portion of tuition and may be renewed if the criteria are met.
Rwanda Tuition Advantage
The University of Arkansas is proud to provide a tuition advantage for all qualifying undergraduate level students from Rwanda.  We are excited to offer this opportunity to experience the University of Arkansas and its many academic programs of excellence.

Awarded to top candidates from the applicant pool

Silas Hunt Scholarship

Awarded to students from under-represented communities who have demonstrated outstanding academic leadership qualities and potential. Under-represented communities include, but are not limited to, under-represented ethnic or minority groups, a student with an interest in a field that does not typically attract members of his/her ethnicity or gender, residence in an under-represented county in Arkansas, or a first generation college student.
John and Marie Lavallard International Scholarship
Selection criteria of this scholarship are:
  • Applicant must be a citizen and permanent resident of a country other than the United States.
  • There are no restrictions on field of study.
  • Non-degree seeking and degree seeking applicants will be considered.
  • Applicant must meet all University of Arkansas admission criteria.
  • Applicant must present a clear statement of objectives to be achieved with the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
  • Preference will be given to applicants not currently in the United States.
Rwanda Tuition Advantage
The Rwanda Tuition Advantage will pay the out-of-state portion of your tuition (a savings of over $7,000!) if you:
  • Meet all admissions criteria and are accepted as a degree-seeking student.
  • Are a citizen and permanent resident of Rwanda.
  • Are at the freshman or transfer level.
Application Procedure

Generally
It is important to submit your application for admission to the University, all supporting documents and official test scores (especially SAT or ACT) far in advance of the scholarship deadline. You must apply separately for scholarships by going to the Office of Scholarships website at http://scholarships.uark.edu/.
John and Marie Lavallard International Scholarship
Applications should be sent to the International Admissions Office.  The Foundation for the International Exhange of  Students Executive Committee will review applications and determine the scholarship recipient each April for the Fall Semester.
Rwanda Tuition Advantage
Apply for admission to the University of Arkansas (online at http://iao.uark.edu or by sending in a paper application).  Provide us with all supporting application materials. You will be notified of the tuition advantage award when you have been fully admitted to the University of Arkansas.
