The Wolfson Foundation seek to support excellence through the Wolfson Postgraduate Scholarships in Humanities for international students at University of Oxford

In accordance with its longstanding support for higher education and commitment to the humanities, the Foundation is launching a pilot funding programme of postgraduate scholarships in the humanities for entry in 2014/2015. The timing reflects the Foundation’s concerns about funding for the humanities and the potential impact of increased undergraduate debt on postgraduate studies.

By what Criteria is Selection Made?
Students should have an outstanding academic record; usually a first class honours degree at undergraduate level and a Master’s degree from a recognised university in a cognate field of study to their proposed doctoral research.

Who is qualified to apply?

Candidates should be applying to start a new doctoral course at Oxford.

The Scholarships are available in three disciplines that align closely with the Foundation’s interests: history, literature and languages. The Scholarships are available for doctoral research only and will be paid over three years. For full-time students, it is expected that students complete their doctorate in three years.

What are the benefits?

100% of university and college fees, a grant for living costs (£15,000 per year) and a grant to help with research and training costs. The continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based upon satisfactory academic progress.

The scheme is open to all nationalities including African countries. Applicants should be intending to return to their country of ordinary residence following their studies.
