The Mo Ibrahim Foundation has generously provided SOAS with one PhD scholarship per year for African students undertaking full time PhD programme in the field of Governance for Development in Africa. The scholarship is on a part present form and it provides for Fees for three years, and for accommodation and living cost for the first year only. We expect students to be on fieldwork during the second year, and to write the thesis in the third year in their country of origins. We provide part of subsistence cost for the second and third year, but not accommodation cost.
