Worth of Awards
- The scholarship covers 100% of university and college fees, and a grant for living costs (the rate in 2012-13 was £13,590).
- Awards are made for the full duration of a student’s fee liability for the agreed course. If your scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to review based on satisfactory academic progress.
Specifications
The programme covers:
- An annual Leadership and Public Policy Seminar – including moderated discussions and workshops on political philosophy and leadership development. Each Seminar is designed to focus on a relevant global issue with forthcoming themes including environment and sustainable development issues;
- Practical skills training in presentation, exam-writing and interviewing techniques;
- A London Leadership Forum at the end of the academic year;
- Engagement in the Institute for Strategic Dialogue’s projects and conferences;
- Organisation of an annual Weidenfeld Debate; and
- Numerous networking opportunities throughout the year.
- Candidates should be applying to start a new graduate course at Oxford. They should also be intending to return to their countries or regions of origin once their courses are completed.
- Please ensure you meet the requirements for entry to your course, including the necessary English language qualifications. See the Course Guide for more information. Deferred entry students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
- Eligible candidates must hold an undergraduate degree and be an ordinary resident of a country in Africa, Asia or South America, as listed on the eligible countries list .
- Scholars under the Louis Dreyfus – Weidenfeld Scholarship and Leadership Programme Scheme will pursue study or research in one of the courses listed on the following document:
- Applicants should be able to demonstrate a connection between their subject of study and their longer-term career objectives, explaining how they see their professional work contributing to the improvement of public life in their countries of origin or at a wider regional or international level.
- This scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other awards. Students currently at Oxford are not eligible to apply unless they are already Weidenfeld Scholars.

Deadline
- Candidates should apply by Application Deadline 2 (04 January 2013 for Medical Sciences and Politics & International Relations; 18 January 2013 for all other subjects).
- In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate study by the January deadline above and have secured a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (13 March 2013).
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in an interview in late April 2013.
